Two days...Two rollovers...Two very different outcomes
Sunday, June 13th Rescue Box I-95NB @ exit 80 - one to Bayview, one priority four on scene. Alert went off near the start of the company officer's meeting and all units were out the door quickly.
Monday, June 14th Rescue Box Laurel Bush Rd and Hookers Mill Rd - three to Hopkins as a precaution, three refusals. Don't forget to wear your high visibility vest when operating on or near the roadway!!
Maryland EMT-P
For those that don't already know I am now an NREMT-P and also a Maryland EMT-P. I got my new card in the mail yesterday from MIEMSS. As a Paramedic there are some additional procedures and medications that can be performed and administered without first consulting the receiving hospital. The role is more autonomous and better recognized than Cardiac Rescue Technician, my previous license in the state of Maryland.
On this coming Monday I will be participating in a Mass Casualty Drill with the Abingdon Fire Company. I hope to be able to have a medical command role so that I can get the experience in such a position. We rarely use the role in our volunteer system, but on occasion there is a need for additional coordination of medical related tasks including triage, treatment and transport.
Take care and be safe.
